WEST AND COOPER LAND AMBASSADOR ROLES

Leicestershire and Rutland Sport have announced that Harriet West and Harriet Cooper are to be Go Gold Ambassadors.

This prestige honour is in recognition of their amazing achievement at last years National Championships and European Junior Championships where they both achieved podium finishes.

 

COOPER SELECTED TO WORLD CLASS PODIUM POTENTIAL PROGRAMME

Harriet Cooper has been named as part of a select group of athletes to British Swimmings World Class Podium Potential Programme for her outstanding performances at the recent British Gas International Meet.

This programme has identified British swimmers who have the potential to reach the pinnacle of the sport. This programme offers support to the athletes in a wide range of different ways on their path to developing their potential in swimming. The selection criteria for this exclusive privilege was based on not only race performances but also on a complex combination of all aspects of the swimmer, from technical aspects, trainability, accountability, sustainability and performance environment.

COOPER SELECTED TO GREAT BRITAIN TEAM

City of Leicester's Harriet Cooper has been selected to swim at the European Junior championships for the second consecutive year.
Cooper is part of a 24-strong Great Britain team who will compete in Poland in July.
The 15-year-old represented Great Britain at the Europeans in Belgium last year. She returned with a brace of relay silver medals helping to earn her a commendation in the 2012 Leicester Mercury Sports Awards.
Mark Perry, Interim Technical Lead for British Swimming, who leads the development programme said: “The European Junior Championships is one of the target meets on the Podium Potential Programme and this year we have adopted a tough selection policy.”
“This year we are taking a smaller, more medal focused group who we believe have the potential to make the team for Rio 2016 and beyond.”
Cooper will be looking for medals in Poznan from her individual events this year and her recent form has been exceptional.
She was outstanding at the British Gas International meet staged in Leeds winning three of the four events she competed in setting new Regional and County junior records.

GIRLS DOMINATE FIRST BRITISH INTERNATIONAL MEET

City of Leicester swimmers have been making their mark at the British Gas International Meet in Leeds in style. All five of the girls representing the club achieved fifteen finals between them seven swimmers including Jack Warren Ballard and Tsubasa Nakagawa competed at the meet.
Harriet Cooper shone by winning the junior 100m Backstroke, 50m and 100m Freestyle final, breaking the East Midland Junior and County senior/junior records whilst achieving the qualifying standard for the European Junior Great Britain Team. Cooper was also second in the 50m backstroke.
Candice Hall made the final of the 200m Backstroke, 200m and 400m Individual Medley at her first British Senior Championships. Harriet West made the junior finals of the 200m individual Medley, 100m and 200m Butterfly.
Megan Morrison made the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke junior finals with best times in two of the events. Danielle Tomlinson made the final of the 50m Breaststroke and 50m butterfly in personal best times after qualifying for the Championships at the last opportunity a few weeks earlier.

STARS OF TOMORROW SHINE AT COLSC MINI MEET

At the final round of the COLSC Mini Meet Series swimmers aged 9-11yrs were crowned overall champions after three competitive rounds of action. The girls winners were 9yrs Carys O'Reilly of Hinckley SC, 10yrs Lauren Grice of Coalville SC, 11yrs Peta Jarvis of Loughborough Town SC. The boys winners were 9yrs Luke Chapman Braunstone, 10yrs Jack Cave Hinckley, 11yrs Rakshansingh Parmessur of Leicester Neptunes SC. Full results of the last round click here->

COLSC DOMINATE ZONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

At the annual Central Zonal Championship COLSC swimmers produced some fast mid season pace as they prepare for County Championships and the inaugural British Open in March. Milly Scotchbrook, Daisy Platts and Hannah Knight set new national qualifying marks at their first Zonals. Elliott Tointon add a further two National times to his growing range of events. Medallists at the Championships included Candice Hall, Tsubasa Nakagawa, Elliott Tointon, Harriet West, Dani Tomlinson. Zonal Champions were Harriet Cooper and Megan Morrison. Both Dani Tomlinson and Candice Hall qualified for the first time for the British Open.

TOP CLUB FOR YOUNGSTERS AT ROTHERHAM METRO

COLSC sent a very young team of around 50 swimmer to the Rotherham Metro Meet in Sheffield. Gaining valuable experience for the first time all swimmers stepped upto the challange and produce an amazing set of results to conclude the meet with the top club trophy.
