JUNIORS PODIUM AT REGIONAL SHORT COURSE At the first target meet of the season the youth of COLSC stepped up and delivered some outstanding swims in the heat and finals of the Regional Short Course Championships against tough opposition including Loughborough University. Regional Junior Champions include Sophie Smith, Harriet West, Megan Morrison and Dani Tomlinson. Medallists Candice Hall, Tsubasa Nakagawa, Joel Allen, Nathan Birchenall. Finalists Jack Warren - Ballard and Elliot Tointon, 4x100m Male and Female relay teams. |

SMITH FINALS AT EUROPEAN SHORT COURSE At the first international championships since the Olympic Games in London the finest competitors from European gathered in France to contest for continental titles. Sophie competing in the medley events didn't disappoint and improved on her last outing at these championships in 2010. In the Medley events Sophie finished 8th in the 200m and 5th in the 100m event. Sophie was also part of the relays that set new British records in the 4x50m Mixed Freestyle and Medley events. |

BALLARD WINS WISE INTERNATIONAL In his first international Jack Warren - Ballard competing for England Schools claimed the WISE International 200m Backstroke title. Against strong opposition from Ireland, Scotland and Wales Jack lead from the start and swam close to his personal best set at the National Youth Championships this summer. |

SMITH IN EURO SHORT COURSE ACTION A team of 18 British swimmers including Sophie Smith will compete at November’s European Short Course Championships in Chartres in the first international swimming championships since the London 2012 Olympic Games. The British Gas GBR Swimming Team features a mixture of experienced swimmers and talented youngsters making their senior debut at an international competition. The competition will be held at The Odyssey Complex in Chartres, France from the 22nd – 25th November and will see the introduction of mixed relay teams for the first time in international swimming. |

TSUBASA PODIUMS NATIONAL MASTERS At his first meet of the new season Tsubasa set a fast short course time in the 50m Freestyle 19-24 years category to claim the bronze medal at the ASA National Masters Championships in Sheffield. |

YOUTH PUT ON A SHOW AT VULCANS MEET At the first opportunity to race long course of the new season the youth swimmers of COLSC didn't disappoint. Competing at the Lincoln Vulcan's meet over one day there was many outstanding early season swims. Qualifying to National Championships at the first chance where Harriet West, Candice Hall, Megan Morrison, Jack Warren - Ballard, Elliot Tointon. Stand out swims of the meet came from Candice Hall and Jack Warren - Ballard setting some fast times at the start of the season. |

FIRED UP AT ROBIN HOOD MEET COLSC swimmers were on their first outing of the new season at the Robin Hood Open Meet in Sheffield. Having spent the first six weeks of their season perfecting their training habits they worked on applying that at the meet. The team came away with the majority of swims being PB’s, a large medal haul, and trophies for top club overall and top boys club. Isaac Peace also got 2nd top boy overall. Stand out swims from Molly Lee, Joel Allen, Emily Crane, Tom Ryan, Hannah Knight and Hannah Bentley |

NEW BEGINING AT DX MEET The new breed of swimmers joining COLSC for the first time got to test their new training regime progress at the Derventio Excel meet. Stand out performances came from Cole Lee, Owen Timms-Shaw and Millie Randle all putting gold medal performances. Finley Chapman, Alex Soler Canto, Charlie Poolie and Conner Jeffery also made the podium. |

THORPE IN WORLD FIRST AT WORLD CUP Competing at the World Cup in Dubai Jamie Thorpe began the new season taking part in the first FINA approved mixed relays. Jamie also produced early season speed in his favored Freestyle and Butterfly events competing against a competitive international field including many Olympians. |
